We've worked with the Department for Education to create two easy read guides for parents and children and young people with learning disabilities, to help explain the changes to the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) system in England.

The changes, which came into force from September 2014, should mean that children and young people and their families will:

Get the support they need earlier, to help them learn and be healthy

Be more involved in making decisions about their lives and the support they need

Be able to find information more easily than before

Get help to prepare for their future, including getting a job, choosing where to live and getting involved in their community
