Dolphin Court is a Mencap residential care service in the heart of Havant. We offer a safe, supportive and friendly place to live where each person is encouraged to live the life they choose. Everything we do is shaped around the individual: their preferences, routines, goals and what matters most to them.

A place shaped around each person

At Dolphin Court, we support up to 15 adults with moderate to severe learning disability. We support both men and women, creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect .

As a Mencap service, we place person-centred support at the heart of everything we do. This means taking the time to really get to know each person, their likes, dislikes, communication style, routines and aspirations and tailoring support in a way that works for them.

Our team provides flexible, individual support with:

  • personal care and wellbeing
  • medication
  • meal planning and cooking
  • keeping living spaces comfortable and safe
  • attending appointments
  • building confidence and accessing the community .

The service is based within a secure, gated complex and includes:

  • three fully accessible bungalows
  • three self-contained flats
  • a bright, welcoming community room for activities and social time
  • dedicated staff spaces.

Above all, Dolphin Court is a place where people feel at home.

Supporting people to live full lives

Being part of the local community is an important part of person-centred support. Dolphin Court is just a two‑minute walk from Havant town centre, giving people the freedom to access shops, cafés and local amenities in a way that suits them.

With nearby bus routes and a train station, people are supported to stay connected, whether that’s visiting family, attending activities or exploring new places. Hayling Island beach is also just a short bus journey away for those who enjoy getting outdoors.

We support each person to make their own choices about how they spend their time and what’s important to them.

We currently have 4 vacancies across our bungalows and self‑contained flats.

Ground‑floor bungalow rooms (2 vacancies)

Our bungalow rooms are fully accessible, each with an en‑suite bathroom, and form part of shared households where people can enjoy companionship as well as their own space.

These rooms may suit people who:

  • Are men or women looking for a supportive Mencap home where they feel valued and understood.
  • Would benefit from personalised support with personal care, medication and daily routines.
  • Have mobility needs and would feel comfortable in an accessible environment.
  • May have communication needs and benefit from patient, tailored support.
  • Enjoy being around others and feel comfortable in a friendly, sociable household.

Each bungalow includes:

  • shared kitchen, lounge and dining areas
  • a sensory room
  • a private garden
  • a purpose‑built, accessible layout.

Support within the bungalows is tailored for each individual, balancing independence with the right level of support.

Self‑contained flats (2 vacancies)

Our first‑floor flats offer a more independent way of living, while still having access to support when it’s needed. Each flat provides a private and comfortable space where people can develop their independence.

These flats may suit people who:

  • Are men or women ready to take the next step towards more independent living.
  • Would like some flexible, person‑centred support with daily living, medication and accessing the community.
  • Do not require full 24/7 support.
  • Are able to use stairs independently.
  • Want to build confidence, skills and independence at their own pace.

Each flat includes:

  • Private kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom.

People living in the flats are supported to develop the skills that matter most to them, in a way that feels achievable and empowering.

A friendly and inclusive community

Dolphin Court is currently home to 11 adults aged 30–60. We support both men and women with a wide range of needs, creating a warm and inclusive community.

There is a strong sense of belonging, with opportunities to socialise, build friendships and take part in shared activities, while always respecting personal choice.

Activities are shaped around people’s interests and include:

  • community outings
  • weekly music sessions
  • monthly massage sessions
  • inclusion discos
  • weekly coffee mornings
  • movie nights
  • summer BBQs and seasonal celebrations.

We encourage everyone to take part in what they enjoy, try new experiences and build confidence in their own way.

Our team receives ongoing training to ensure people are supported safely, respectfully and in a way that promotes independence. This includes:

  • safeguarding and first aid
  • moving and handling
  • buccal medication
  • SALT‑related training
  • all mandatory care training.

Our residential care services are high-quality personalised residential care homes, which are adapted to meet the needs of the people we support.

If you need it we can provide specialist equipment to meet your needs – we support people to use personalised technology to help them to be as independent as possible.

If the person requires support with personal care (e.g. washing, bathing or cleaning themselves, getting dressed or going to the toilet), then this support is regulated by CQC.
