"We are Jess and Adam and have just trekked to Everest Base Camp to raise money for the brilliant Mencap and West Norfolk Mencap. After eight days of trekking we made it to 5,364m above sea level with only 50% oxygen levels. An unforgettable physical and mental challenge. We were gearing up for the three day hike back when we both got food poisoning and had to be helicoptered to hospital in Kathmandu. It really reminded us the difficulties that you can face on this trek, and how lucky we were to reach our goal of Everest Base Camp.

This is our first fundraising challenge for Mencap, and we took it on in honour of my/Jess' brother George who turned 30 this summer. George has several severe learning disabilities and autism , and lives in a small, dedicated care facility in West Norfolk. George loves Disney, Elton John and being in the water. He is cheeky, has an infectious laugh and enjoys a good sing-along."

"To celebrate his birthday, we wanted to raise awareness and support for the brilliant work that Mencap do, both at a national and local level. We are over the moon to have raised £4,000 for both organisations ."

"We would 100% encourage anyone to take on a challenge to help Mencap. They have been so proactive in offering support and communication - you can really tell how much you are making a difference, whatever you raise."
