This month we are celebrating Gary, our amazing Supporter of the Month who has written and published a children’s Christmas book  ‘The Eve of Christmas Eve’, with all profits going to Mencap!

Gary is a father of six, plus two stepdaughters, with his partner, Victoria. Their eldest child is 29, and the youngest is 4. Two of his children have a learning disability , and he was inspired to write this book for them.

Gary has a passion for writing and music and has already self-published a few children's books prior to ‘The Eve of Christmas Eve’.

Gary is so inspiring and chose to use his talents to help others. “The book was written as a gift for Nate and Neve [his children], but then I thought, 'how could it help others?'.

Given their conditions, it came to mind that raising donations for Mencap, a well-known and respected charity that supports people with learning disabilities, would be a good thing to do, to help others like Nate and Neve.”

Gary feels that his family has found a lot of help, support and friends within the SEND community and recognises how important it is to raise awareness. His generosity and talent will help raise awareness and vital funds for people with a learning disability and the important work Mencap does.

Supporters like Gary allow us to continue our mission to make the lives of people living with a learning disability happier and healthier.

If you want to read this wonderful book and support Mencap you can get your own copy of ‘The Eve of Christmas Eve’.
