How employers can help

There are lots of ways employers can work with Mencap to support people with learning disabilities into work.

Work experience placements

We are always looking to work with employers who can provide work experience to learners on our supported internships and other programmes like our Employ Me programmes working in schools. 

 

Employment guidance and advice

Besides offering work experience, employers can also support people on our programmes by offering:

  • Opportunities to visit work sites
  • Opportunities to hear from employees about their work and sector
  • Support to prepare for interviews.

How Mencap supports employers

In-work support

For employers that offer work experience to learners on our programmes, Mencap can provide in-work support through our caseworkers and job coaches who support learners to understand and complete workplace tasks and can work with employers' teams to ensure any required reasonable adjustments are made and they are equipped to support the learner. 

Employers offering work experience can also benefit from our learning disability awareness training.
