Expert Information and Advice Caseworker Project
The National Lottery Community fund has generously agreed to provide a grant of £332,678 over 3 years, through their Reaching Communities Programme.
With this funding Mencap will recruit two new full-time
Learning Disability
A learning disability is to do with the way someone's brain works. It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things.
Caseworkers. This project will support over 1,000 people, by providing expert specialist Information and Advice, enabling them to access the advice and support they desperately need, when they need it and tailored to their specific concerns or queries.

A community is the people and places in an area. Fund, we will ensure that:
1,000 adults and children living with a learning disability will be directly supported to prevent the issues they present with reaching crisis point, or to support them at the earliest possible time. - 1,000 people with a learning disability and their family, carers and support networks will receive access to specialised LDCs and advice and guidance to have a better understanding of the strengths and assets available in their community.
- 80% of those who respond will report an improvement in one or more areas in their quality of life.
- Over £100,000 will be gained for people with a learning disability and their families, via better access to financial and benefit support. By supporting people to access increased benefits and increase their income, this will also increase their life chances and opportunities.

Advocacy is when you get support to have your say. , access to banking, that will assist people with a learning disability to have a greater quality of life.
