An induction is when someone shows you where things are and what you need to know. You will get an induction if you start a new job at Mencap.
, and we’ve got everything in place to make sure you never stop learning. You’ll be able to take control of your own professional development. And you’ll find that, through the people you meet, the work you do, and experiences you share, you’ll grow in all kinds of other ways too.

New starters at Mencap
When you start, you’ll take part in a Welcome to Mencap workshop, where you will meet with some colleagues from different parts of the country. This workshop an overview of what we do and helps you to understand more about
learning disability
A learning disability is to do with the way someone's brain works. It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things.

You’ll also have an induction tailored to your job - this could include training in person and digitally, as well as learning on the job, shadowing or working with your
manager
A manager is a boss at work. They tell you what you need to do and give you support if you need it.

As part of My Mencap Review, you’ll have regular conversations with your manager about how you are doing, and the support you need, as well as time to plan your development. Whenever a need or ambition is identified, your manager will be there to help.

Your induction is just the beginning of your learning with us. Every day, you’ll learn from your manager, your colleagues and, above all, people with a learning disability who you work with and, in some roles, support.
We also have a dedicated learning and development team who provide a wide range of training. This includes management development and bespoke training for the needs of teams and the people who we support.
