Your time with Mencap will start with a full induction An induction is when someone shows you where things are and what you need to know. You will get an induction if you start a new job at Mencap. , and we’ve got everything in place to make sure you never stop learning. You’ll be able to take control of your own professional development. And you’ll find that, through the people you meet, the work you do, and experiences you share, you’ll grow in all kinds of other ways too.

New starters at Mencap
When you start, you’ll go to a Welcome to the Royal Mencap Society training day. This gives an overview of what we do and helps you to understand more about learning disability A learning disability is to do with the way someone's brain works. It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things. . You’ll feel inspired as well as informed.
You’ll also have an induction tailored to your job - this could include training days, distance learning or working with your manager A manager is a boss at work. They tell you what you need to do and give you support if you need it. .

We also have a dedicated learning and development team who provide a wide range of training. This includes management development and bespoke training for the needs of teams and the people who we support.
