What is volunteering?

Volunteering is when you do something for free to help a person or an organisation.

A group of people.

Lots of charities and organisations have volunteers.

What do volunteers do?

As a volunteer, you might:

look after animals
do some gardening
sit and chat with a person
help to run a club or group.

Why do people volunteer?

You might volunteer so that you can:

learn new skills
share skills you have
find out if you like doing something
apply for paid work
spend time doing something you enjoy.
