The government The Government are the people who run the country. They decide how much tax people should pay for things and how things like the National Health Service should work. says how much money people should be left with if they pay for their social care support.
This is called the Minimum Income Income is all the money you get from things like paid jobs and government benefits. Guarantee.
When the government increased benefits, they did not increase the Minimum Income Guarantee.
This means that people are at risk of losing the extra benefits money, because they could be asked to pay more for their social care support.
Mencap says the government must increase the Minimum Income Guarantee at the same rate that benefits are going up.
This means people with a learning disability who get social care can keep more of their benefits.
