Arriving and waiting for a blood test

A man is standing at a hospital reception desk talking to a nurse

On the day of your blood test appointment:

When you get to the place where the blood test appointment is, let the staff know you have arrived.

Staff are the people who work there.

A nurse is filling out a questionnaire for a man next to her who is sat up on a bed

The staff will tell you what to do next and where you need to wait for your appointment.

It is OK to ask them questions to make sure you understand.

Once the staff know you have arrived you may need to wait to be seen.

Let the staff know if you find it difficult waiting.

When it is time for you to have your blood test a member of staff may say your name to let you know it is your turn.

Let the staff know when you arrive for your appointment if you might have difficulty knowing when it is your turn.
