Working with Trustees, you'll oversee the Executive Team’s delivery of our Big Plan and radical organisational change as we move to devolved, empowered and accountable self-managed teams.

The Voices Council
Mencap’s Trustees work closely with the Voices Council The Mencap Voices Council are a group of 12 people with a learning disability. They share their views and experiences to help Mencap's Board of Trustees make decisions. , which is our dedicated panel of people with a learning disability. The Voices Council provides invaluable advice and input to the Board and ensures that the Board remains focussed on the core mission of the organisation.
The Role
The term of appointment is four years with the possibility of renewal for a period of up to four more years. This is a voluntary role. The Chair is asked to give 3-4 days a month to Mencap.
Each year, Mencap has four regular board meetings and a two-day meeting that incorporates a review of strategy A strategy is a plan to show what an organisation, or a person, wants to do and how they are going to do it. and more time to consider bigger issues.
