A Huge Congratulations to Abdul and Hannah!
We're delighted to celebrate an incredible achievement by Abdul Hameed and Hannah Furse, who recently completed the Saucony London 10K in an amazing 1:21:18 and raised £700 for Mencap!

Abdul, who has a mild learning disability and visual impairment, took on the challenge to push himself and inspire others. Running alongside colleague and friend Hannah, who guided him throughout the race, the pair smashed both their fundraising target and their expected finish time.

Reflecting on the experience , Abdul highlighted some unforgettable moments from the day, including crossing Westminster Bridge with views of the London Eye and Big Ben, and the excitement of crossing the finish line.
“It meant quite a lot to me. It was about helping other people. If I can do it, other people can do it as well.”
Because of the bright sunlight, Abdul had to run much of the race with his eyes partially closed and says he would not have been able to do it without Hannah's support.
“Hannah was absolutely awesome. My eyes were hurting and I had my eyes closed half the time. I definitely couldn't have done it without her.”
The £700 raised will help Mencap continue supporting people with a learning disability, something Abdul is incredibly passionate about.
“It’s gone to a beautiful cause. It will give other people with a learning disability the opportunity to benefit from the funds we raised.”
Abdul also had a message for everyone who donated, cheered them on, and supported their journey:
“Thanks for the awesome support!”
And his advice to anyone with a learning disability thinking about taking on a challenge like this?
“Go and do it. Yes, you can. If you want to do it, go and do it. You just need to train and don’t give up.”
Please join us in congratulating Abdul and Hannah on an incredible achievement, for showing the power of friendship, determination and inclusion, and for raising vital funds for Mencap.
