Benefits and Rewards

The work you’ll do demands a lot. So we’ll make sure that we’ll give you a lot in return.

As well as meaningful work, great colleagues and outstanding training, our paid roles offer:

  • a competitive holiday allowance, with the ability to purchase up to ten days extra holiday each year
  • a pension scheme
  • sick pay
  • an employee assistance programme
  • a whole range of recognition and award schemes
  • our comprehensive online discount portal, which we call Mencap Extras
  • a financial wellbeing scheme, including loan offers

Feel like you’re on top of your finances

Join us and you’ll be able to make your money go further. From day one you’ll have access to a number of great savings through our online portal, Mencap Extras. It offers discounts of up to 30% on everything from high street and supermarket shopping to cinemas, theme parks, holidays and gym membership. You can also take advantage of salary exchange offers on our cycle-to-work scheme, childcare vouchers, holiday plus scheme and pension arrangements. And we offer loans for things like season tickets, mobile phones, computers, laptops.

We offer a range of financial assistance too. Once on board, you’ll have access to a financial wellbeing hub, giving you access to financial education resources along with a range of affordable loans to help with things like debt consolidation.

Feel valued

We don’t let great work go unnoticed. Our ‘You Rock’ recognition scheme is open to all our colleagues, and it’s all about celebrating people who’ve really brought one of our values to life. Nominations come from all across the organisation, and it’s a great way to say thank you. There’s even a judging panel, who make sure the very best examples get an extra reward.

Feel well balanced

We offer a generous holiday allowance for all roles, which increases with length of service. You’ll be able to buy up to 10 days’ extra holiday each year through our Holiday-Plus scheme. We’re also open to working from home and flexi-time, depending on your role.

Feel looked after

You will be able to access Lifestyle Support - our employee assistance programme, which offers around-the-clock, free, confidential assistance on everything from consumer rights, wellbeing and family matters to debt management, finding a babysitter and organising a children’s party.

We also offer discounted gym membership, and if you use a computer for long periods at work you can claim back the cost of an eye test.

What’s more, we have a Health Cash Plan – Essentials4Health - that will allow you to:

  • Claim cash towards dental visits, new glasses or contact lenses and therapy treatments
  • Access a GP consultation service

Feel like you’re progressing

Feel like you’re making a different kind of difference

As a registered charity, we love fundraising. And we enjoy doing it. There’s always something fun going on here that you can get involved in, and the money you raise really will help make a positive difference to people’s lives.

When I support someone to do something they really enjoy doing, such as going to the theatre, and seeing their face light up and hearing the laughter, it’s the best feeling in the world
