From face painting to food feasts, creepie-crawlies to karaoke, residents at a supported living home in Coventry made the most of My Fund to take part in a range of new things that they wanted to do! For them it was all about grabbing the chance to try something out of the ordinary and enjoy the experiences.

“One of the things was the animal man, they all had different textures,” said Kalbinder, the manager of the service

“One of the animals was a mini crocodile and one of our clients is tactile and she had no problem with touching it, or the other animals!”

Alongside getting up close to insects, reptiles, and even a mini horse, the residents chose to have a bouncy castle, a face paint experience, and explored foods from around the world.

“We did a tasting event at a restaurant and the food was amazing,” Kalbinder said.

“We did a whole Chinese theme, and there was also Indian and European food too. Some of the foods were new to them and they were ones that are not always on take away menus. It was lavish and it was great for them to see and eat foods they had never seen before."

“We used to have a lot of centres in Coventry, but nothing is free now. We had in-house sessions which meant that the group didn't have to travel to have something to do, and it was in the comfort of their own home. The things we did were proactive, new experiences.”
