Mencap promotes the welfare of any child or young person who use our services or who we come into contact with. This applies to children and young people aged under 18 years of age.

Raise a concern

Child abuse is when a child is intentionally harmed by an adult or another child – it can be over a period of time but can also be a one-off action. It can be physical, sexual, emotional or involve neglect and it can happen in person or online.

Mencap's safeguarding children policy

Mencap promotes the welfare of any child or young person who use our services or who we come into contact with.

Our Children and Young People safeguarding policy and procedure explains this in more detail.
