Take on our One Big Walk this September!

Mencap’s One Big Walk is in it’s third year and we’d love you to join in!
Support us and help make the UK the best place in the world for people with a
learning disability
A learning disability is to do with the way someone's brain works. It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things.
to live happy and healthy lives.

What is the One Big Walk challenge?
There are 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability. We’d like you to use that number to raise awareness and set your own One Big Walk challenge! How about…
- a gentle 1.5 mile walk over 2 weeks.
- an ambitious 15 miles in one day.
- a total distance of 150 miles walked across the whole of September.
...or something else, the choice is yours!
Walking is a great way to fundraise, and it's also good for your physical and mental health. So sign up today and let's make this the biggest One Big Walk yet!

Where does the One Big Walk take place?
One Big Walk takes place during September.
This is a virtual challenge, so you can walk anywhere you like. Whatever you choose, you'll be helping to make a difference.

Why take part in One Big Walk for Mencap?
Wherever you decide to complete your walk, you'll be raising vital funds to help us support 1.5 million people with a learning disability across the UK.
Plus, if you raise £150 or over by 30 September 2023 we'll send you a bespoke Team Mencap medal!
What do fundraisers have to say about this walk for charity?
I would say to anyone to go and do it next year.
Walking helps you to keep fit and it also helps your mental health.
Finally, it can help you raise lots of money for charity, it is really worth doing!”

You can also take part if you have difficulty walking
There are lots of ways you can take part if you use a wheelchair or find walking challenging. Talk to our events team to can suggest other ways you can take part and be involved.
Share your fundraising journey over social media using #TeamMencap

For those who decide to take on the larger 150 mile challenge we've set up a dedicated Facebook group page for you to share your stories, and pass on any helpful hints and tips to others.
