Maddie had never been on holiday independently before, but after successfully applying to My Fund she was able to take her first ever trip away where she got to choose exactly what she wanted to do!

“It was really good!” said Maddie after coming back from her stay in Porthmadog, North Wales. “I stayed in a nice caravan with my own bedroom.

“We played crazy golf and went swimming on the site. We also went to the beach and visited Harlech Castle. My favourite activity was visiting the Sygun Copper Mines at Beddgelert because we went underground and I liked learning about the history.”

When applying to My Fund, Maddie said that she wanted to go on holiday to the seaside, as she finds it a sensory experience that helps with her anxiety. And it wasn’t just the day trips and activities Maddie enjoyed while she was away.

“I felt that it gave me the chance to learn new things,” she remembers. “I had to learn money skills and how to spend the money on my holiday. I went with my carer and because we spent time together in a caravan we got to know each other better and now are more like friends.”

“I had a fantastic time and really enjoyed choosing my own things to do, on my first independent holiday. I was very grateful for the donation from My Fund, that helped with the cost. Thank you very much!”

“Don’t miss your chance – have a go and apply!”
