- Becky Mumford 20/11/2015 commentsI’m really excited about the launch of Sidekicks. It is a great opportunity that will enable more people with a learning disability to lead life the way they want. I spoke to some of the volunteers that gave their time to help us launch Sidekicks, to find out a bit more about why they volunteer with Mencap.
- Simon Sidekicks 19/11/2015 commentsWhen I was younger, I used to run quite a lot. At my best, I was able to run 26.2 miles – I ran 5 marathons – London in 1997, then Manchester, Nottingham, Manchester again, and the last one (the one that stopped me running) was in Stoke-on-Trent in October 1999. I also used to take part in local competitions. Unfortunately, I injured myself, and by the time I got back to trying to run, I just couldn’t find my rhythm or anybody to run with me.

Work experience provides a great opportunity for people to develop skills in a working environment.
