Scared of the consequences of speaking out, a mother tells the story of her daughter who has been held in inpatient units for 10 years, and the agony this has caused their family.
Alison's son, Adam, has been trapped in secure mental health hospital units for over half his life. Here she shares how Adam has fallen deeper and deeper into a system that doesn't support his needs.
R is mother of L, who is currently trapped in an inpatient unit hundreds of miles away from home. They want to share their story anonymously, as R says the lack of support from the local authority is leaving their family "broken."
Kayleigh was in inpatient units between 2004 and 2014. Her mum Wendy describes how the lack of appropriate community support to meet Kayleigh's needs has lead her family to live "on a knife edge."
