It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things. for a fairer and more inclusive society - one where people with a learning disability have equal chances in life, can contribute to and feel included within their community A community is the people and places in an area. and can live without fear of prejudice.

1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability and face barriers every day.
More than anything else, societal barriers, discrimination Discrimination is when someone is treated differently (usually in a bad way) because of things like their disability or their religion Religion is to do with the things you believe about the world. For example you may believe there is a god or something else. Examples of religions are Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism. . and a lack of understanding of learning disability mean that people with a learning disability are often invisible in society, sometimes locked away and often unable to do many things people take for granted.
- 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability and face barriers every day due to stigma and discrimination.
- On average, people with a learning disability die up to 23 years younger than the general population and many deaths are avoidable.
- In the UK, over 2000 people with a learning disability and/or autism Autism is a disability. Autistic people find it difficult to understand what other people think and feel. They also find it difficult to tell people what they think and feel. Everyone with autism is different. are locked away in mental health in patient hospitals, many of them unnecessarily.
- Currently only 5% of people with a learning disability have a job. 86% of people with a learning disability want to work, but just need a bit more support to do it.

AND £3,000,000 could fund two years of campaigning work, two years of running the learning disability helpline AND a groundbreaking research programme.
