Hi, I’m Lorraine, an events volunteer for Mencap and this is my story…

I wanted to be a volunteer to support the runners at the London Marathon to cheer them on because they are raising money for Mencap - for people with a learning disability and their family to have a better life and the right support for them.

The most I enjoy [about volunteering] is when everyone gets together, is cheering them on and making lots of noise and the atmosphere is fantastic and everyone is cheering the runners for their charity.

I like shouting on the loud speaker to tell them 'You can do it. You're nearly there!'

It’s a great day out for everyone to enjoy themselves. They all get their medals and they are so happy when they receive them after the finished line.

My favourite event is the London Marathon because there's lots more going on and the atmosphere is fantastic and everyone enjoys themselves cheering the runners on!

It is a great day and also they get their medals.
