Adams behaviour has deteriorated and he is very snappy, hitting out at his siblings and friends and generally moody with everybody. We are putting this down to a combination of grieving for his beloved grandad and the change of school and home etc.
We met with our new paediatrician today and told him about Adams behaviour in general as well as his lack of personal hygiene which is terrible. Sadly it is looking likely that we are going to have to go back to scratch with him and do all his personal hygiene for him and with him. This is hard for us to do knowing at age 10 he should be capable of doing it himself but he isn't and as his parents it is our job to keep on top of it. The paediatrician has also mentioned maybe putting him back on meds as his memory has gone terrible we are thinking about this for now.
Daniel is becoming more and more defiant and we are constantly worried about his safety. He is always putting himself into dangerous situations but when he does it he gives direct eye contact and smirks at you almost as if he challenging you. He is defo pushing his boundaries, he is still refusing to talk and communicate at school other than on a one to one basis and is becoming very hyperactive.
We had a speech therapy assessment for him the other day and he is being referred to a selective mutism speech therapist as the speech therapist who saw us agreed he is showing the signs of selective mutism! As well as this the paediatrician today has said he thinks Daniel could have adhd and odd (oppositional defiance disorder) but for them to be diagnosed he has to be 6. So a year wait before we can get answers there but it is a start and until then we will continue to do our best at keeping him safe and out of harms way.
Lewis is doing good. Speech therapist and paediatrician both agree he seems to be on the autistic spectrum so an ADOS assessment is being put in place to find out if he is. He has settled into his new school so well, he is still in a special needs unit and Daniel has joined him there which both boys love! It is looking likely they are going to be there for at least another year. There is also talk about seeing if Lewis's vocal chords have healed any as his speech is still very unclear and his stridor is still present.
So all in all moving to where we are now has been a good move we are getting loads more answers and loads more help!
