After months of hard work training and fundraising, on 31 March, Mencap's team finally set off to Morocco to battle through the sand and heat of the Sahara desert.
This year's race, the 26th in the competition's history, got off to a great start with 849 competitors heading for the Merzouga dunes. The days that followed saw sand, rocky plateaux, strong winds, 50°C heat and a mere 250.7km to cover!
Mencap's team of 15 runners all completed the course in brilliant times. The team have already raised over £90,000 - helping Mencap continue to support thousands of people with a learning disability in the UK.
Thank you to the whole team for your support:
Graham Baily, Andrew Birtwistle, Scott Craig, Alan Edwards, Nigel Fishburn, Philip Fouche, Edward Graham, Mick Helps, Darran Martin, James Mouland, Phil Newton, Simon Rodd, Mark Stokes, Thomas Unwin and Jonathan Zeffert
