On Thursday 5 April Mencap’s Marathon des Sables team headed off to Morocco, ready to put their months of hard work training into practice.
After months of hard work training and fundraising, on 31 March, Mencap's team finally set off to Morocco to battle through the sand and heat of the Sahara desert.
This three day event saw the Mencap runners complete a total of 78.6 miles over three days along some of the wildest coastline in Britain.
June 2010 saw a Mencap supporter, Sam Wilson, take on the challenge of a lifetime in the Gobi desert in China.

The 2010 Jurassic Coast Challenge took Mencap's runners from Lyme Regis to Poole in Dorset, along beautiful but brutal coastal terrain.
2010 saw Mencap's team of four, the Red Hot Chile team, prepare to take on the Atacama desert.

On 7 April 2009 thirty-eight competitors from across the world took on the challenge of running a marathon whilst enduring temperatures of minus 37 degrees.
