Learning disability will always exist. By including a gift to Mencap in your will, you can help to ensure that Mencap always exists to support people with learning disabilities and their families.
Gifts in wills make up around half of the donations we receive from our supporters. Mencap relies on this special support to fund much of our advice and information services as well as our campaigning work.
A gift, of any type or value, makes a real difference to people with a learning disability, their families and carers. By remembering Mencap in your will, you are helping people with a learning disability to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
How your support helps
Mencap Direct – last year our service gave advice and support to 38,410 people - and half of the responses were funded by gifts in wills contributions. Your support means we can continue to answer calls and help more people with a learning disability, their families and carers.
Our campaigns – we campaign nationally on several issues, including healthcare, housing, education and employment. Our goal is for people with a learning disability to be treated equally in society. Leaving a gift in your will helps us achieve that aim.
Wills and trusts – the service is entirely funded by gifts in wills and gives information to people who want to make sure that their loved one with a learning disability will continue to be supported when you are no longer around. In 2012 more than 1,800 people attended our Planning for the Future seminars.
