The following companies have chosen Mencap as their charity of the year. We'd like to say a big thank you for their commitment and inspiring work.
Opus Energy is an energy company based in Oxford and Northampton, supplying gas and electricity to over 160,000 business customers. The company has a strong commitment to supporting the local community, and decided to select Mencap as its Charity of the Year throughout 2013/14. Opus Energy’s employees have already participated in a range of fundraising activities for Mencap, including bake sales, skydiving, dress-up days and marathons. The aim of the company is to raise £20,000 to support Mencap’s work.
For the first time, professional hair experts KMS California will partner with a charity for one year. They have selected Mencap as their UK charity of choice for the next 12 months. The KMS California partnership aims to raise £20,000 between now and July 2014, with support from the KMS California UK team and KMS salon stockists.
Commelius (formerly Redtray Solutions) has selected Mencap as its first charity partnership. Commelius got the partnership off to a great start with staff taking part in the three peaks challenge and together they raised over £3,500 for Mencap!

FRUKT and staff will be raising £20,000 for Mencap in 2014/15. FRUKT are a specialist marketing agency who create and deliver smart ideas for brands to connect with their fans. Their unique approach combines deep dive strategic insight, ingenious creative ideas and rock solid delivery to ensure campaigns meet core business objectives, and create indelible memories in the hearts and minds of consumers worldwide.
Music and entertainment are universal; providing a window on the world that everyone can access, transcending cultures, language barriers and economic background, to champion discovery, forge memories and build passionate communities. Brands that develop a meaningful role at the heart of these communities have the opportunity to benefit from that most elusive and sought after return on investment – a long-term emotional connection.
Gemserv helps its clients adapt to the evolving fiscal, security and environmental pressures and demands within their industries including those driven by changing government or regulatory requirements and new technological developments. We are proud to have been nominated by Gemserv staff to have become their charity of the year. The partnership launched in February 2012. Since the launch in February Gemserv staff have organised all sorts of fundriasing events. Their annual RPI X Factor Battle of the Bands event raised over £6,000.00 for Mencap.

The Co-operative chose Mencap and our sister charity ENABLE Scotland as its Charity of the year partners for 2011. The Co-operative fundraised for Mencap with a year-long, fun-filled programme of events.
de Poel help companies to optimise their relationships with recruitment agencies, saving money and improving standards. Mencap is proud to have been de Poel's first charity of the year in 2012. The partnership has seen a Manchester to Paris bike ride where over 20 members of staff took on this challenge and raised over £30,000.00 in sponsorship. In October 2012 de Poel organised a Bond themed Gala dinner where they raised over £34,000.
Reynolds Porter Chamberlain
2010 saw Mencap become Charity of the Year for City law firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC). RPC are working closely with Mencap to help deal with cases relating to hate crime providing great opportunities, experiences and understanding to their workforce. Molson Coors' employees voted to support Mencap in a three year partnership, from 2007 to 2010. During that time staff across the country raised money through dress down days, bike rides, and sponsored walks.
Coors' most successful fundraising event was the Mencap Mega week in 2009. Staff across the company took part in various activities, including a three-legged race, swim a mile, golf day, canoe challenge and a rock concert. The week raised an amazing £70,000.
Travis Perkins Group
Travis Perkins Group chose to support Mencap and the children's charity Action for Children (formerly NCH) in September 2006. The partnership initially lasted for two years, and was then extended for a further year.
Over the three years Travis Perkins' employees took part in various fundraising activities, including the Three Peaks Challenge, charity balls, auctions, family fun days and a Beat the Moon challenge. They raised over £429,000 for Mencap over the three year partnership.
Companies not only work with Mencap as part of a Charity of the Year partnership, but companies also choose to support Mencap through one off fundraising events.
Leasedrive is the UK’s largest independent privately owned vehicle management group and are one of Mencap’s suppliers. They chose Mencap as one of the beneficaries of their Big Four Charity Bike Ride. This saw 17 riders from Leasedrive take on the challenge of 400 miles, through four countries in just four days. Not only did the riders complete the challenge but they also raised a record breaking £17,000.00 for their chosen charities.
This is a great example of some of the activities that companies can get involved with to raise vital funds for Mencap.
