Bullying Intervention Group (BiG) scheme has set up a national anti-bullying award scheme that helps schools achieve award status.
The scheme is being supported by Mencap and four other charities:
- The Diana Award
- Show Racism the Red Card
- Educational Action Challenging Homophobia (EACH)
What does the scheme offer
The BiG scheme offers training and resources to schools and services, and the award is a consistent way of judging how well schools are performing against bullying. This is particularly vital when new types of schools are being introduced, and local council services for children are being cut back.

What you can do
Schools are being encouraged to join the new BIG Award scheme that rewards high standards of anti-bullying practice.
The coalition wants you to help to spread the word. If you're worried about bullying in schools, and want to make sure that it stays at the top of the agenda, do tell your child's school about BIG Award, and urge them to sign up.
