Last year Captain Tom Moore set himself the incredible challenge of walking 100 laps of his garden for charity by his 100th birthday, and this year we are asking you to continue his legacy. To celebrate what would have been his 101st birthday we are asking you to join #TeamMencap and take on your own #CaptainTom100 challenge!
What do I need to do?
Take part in the challenge between Friday 30 April and Monday 3 May and raise vital funds for Mencap. Whether you walk 100 laps of your local park, bake 100 cookies or dance for 100 minutes your fundraising will mean that together we can improve the lives of people with a learning disability now and into the future.
How do I do it?
- Choose your 100 challenge to take on anytime over Captain Tom's birthday weekend.
- Set up your fundraising page or make a donation here.
- Share what you are doing and your fundraising page online using #CaptainTom100 and #TeamMencap
How does my fundraising help?
Coronavirus lockdowns have been isolating for everyone, but particularly for people with a learning disability that may not have the skills to communicate with family and friends online.
Just £100 could help us train two people with a learning disability to be confident using the internet, keeping them connected with loved ones and essential services during lockdown.
With your support we can help more people with a learning disability to shine. Specialist support at the right time is vital in helping people develop the essential skills and confidence to thrive and feel equal in society.
What challenge could I do?
- Complete 100 push-ups in one day.
- Pay 100 compliments to friends and family.
- Flip the same pancake 100 times.
