Relationship status: Married

Hear Helen & Darren talk about their marriage and OkCupid's offensive question.

Darren: We met at a Mencap party. I love music and DJ-ing so was helping set up the music for the party when I spotted Helen across the room. She was out having a good time, dancing with her friends. Attracted by her eyes, I made the first move; I bought her a drink and asked her to dance. At the end of the night we swapped numbers, then the next morning I got her a bunch of flowers. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Helen: Yes, it was love at first sight for both of us. I remember on our first date Darren took me out for a meal of prawn salad, which wasn't too great because I don't like prawns! But going out for dinner was good. We dated for a while, going out to different places; restaurants and pubs. Darren paid for me, mostly! After 3 years, on 7th June 2014 we got married. It was a wedding on a grand scale, with over 250 guests! Our colour combination was red and white, and I had 14 bridesmaids. It was pretty big!

Darren can be quite funny. I laugh a lot with him, and sometimes at him. One of the funniest things he's done was dress up as a woman, just for a laugh because he doesn't look very good as a woman! But, he can be quite annoying too. He always has the remote control and changes the channel all the time - even when I'm watching a programme - all of a sudden he switches it over! Although, I think I'm a bit more bossy than him.

D: Yes, Helen also has an annoying habit...she plays her music all the time, especially when I'm trying to watch TV. That can be really annoying. Other than that, we get on really well. We have similar interests and we make a great team!

Response to OkCupid's question: 'Would the world be a better place if people with low IQs weren't allowed to reproduce?'

D: I think OkCupid's question is very inappropriate and to put something like that on a website is wrong and it should be banned.

H: Yes, we're just like everyone else, Darren and I love each other. People shouldn't judge us, and we should have choices just like everybody else. Just because we have a learning disability, it doesn't mean we shouldn't have kids or the choice to have a child.

D: I agree with Helen, I think they should take it off their website. It's going to upset a lot of people, it should be banned and OkCupid should be banned too!

My advice to people with a learning disability who want to start dating is just be yourself, also dress up smartly, bring a bunch of flowers, be a gentleman and pay for the meal - treat your date like a Queen!

H: I knew Darren was a good one or I wouldn't have married him. He's taking me out for dinner this Valentine's Day to our favourite Chinese restaurant. I'm looking forward to it!
