Mencap is working with the Care and Support Alliance to tell the government that our care system is in crisis. On Tuesday 6 March 2012, over 1,000 people joined us in London to tell MPs that a change in social care is urgently needed.
Read our round-up of all the action from the care lobby on 6 March 2012 and the digital twobby that went on across the country, featuring the top tweets and photos from the day. Thank you so much to everyone for taking part.
This is just the beginning and so much more needs to be done to make sure the Government ends the care crisis. Here are some ways to get involved:
Attend your local MP’s surgery
All MPs hold ‘surgeries’ where they meet with local residents in their constituency. It is best that you contact your MP’s office to make an appointment at a surgery to talk about why social care is important to you.
Ask your MP for a telephone appointment
Get in touch with your MP's office to ask if you can speak with the MP on the telephone.
Write to your MP
Write to your MP to tell them how important social care is to you and why it is important for them to ensure the social care reforms happen. You can email your MP using our online template letter.
Complete our survey on changes to day services
Our survey asks people with a learning disability and their families and carers to tell us how their day services are changing.
