Thoughts on The Undateables
I saw the advert for the new documentary series on Channel 4 called The Undateables. The series follows people with a disability and their search for love. The advert was negative towards people with a disability. I felt that the way that it was publicised was negative and offensive to people with a disability. I also felt that the title of the series is really offensive to people with a disability.
When I watched the first documentary, I liked it and I thought that it was quite good as I felt that the characters featured were all portrayed in a positive way. It showed positive attitudes and images of people with a disability wanting to meet potential partners.
I liked the way that each person talked about their dreams and wishes to meet people and to be in proper relationships.
The documentary featured people going out on dates with people that they had been matched up with through disability dating agencies. I felt that this was good.
Last night's episode featured a man called Shaine who has a learning disability.
I felt that Shaine was portrayed in a positive way. I really liked the way that he talked openly about him wanting to find a partner just like any one else. It was interesting to see how he got on when he went out on his date with the lady called Jackie who he had been matched with.
This made me want to write a blog about my own personal experiences of being in a relationship.
