The annual charity trading day raises money for charities around the world and commemorates those who died on 11 September 2001
Every year, BGC Partners and Cantor Fitzgerald, in conjunction with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, remember their 658 friends and colleagues who died on September 11, 2001 by holding a charity trading day.
100% of the revenue raised by the event is shared between charities from around the world, and Mencap is honoured to be one of them.
This year will be the second time Mencap has been selected as one of the charities to benefit from the day.
Joanda Appleby, Corporate development manager at Mencap, says:
Mencap is very proud to be involved in the BGC Charity Day. It's an incredibly moving tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11 that their colleagues are keeping their memory alive by supporting the work of such a wonderful range of charities. By involving Mencap, this year's Charity Day will have a hugely positive impact on people with a learning disability across the UK.
Attended by dozens of celebrities and high profile personalities, it is a fantastic event that does a huge amount of good for millions of people. We will be there with our Young Ambassadors as well as Jo Whiley, Will Young, Mat Horne, Ty Glaser and HRH The Countess of Wessex.
From our perspective, the funds raised with BGC Partners will be an incredible boost to help us support more young people with a learning disability into work.
We will be able to offer more people training, work experience, CV writing help, interview practice and general support while job hunting.
It’s all about breaking down the barriers to hold people back when it comes to finding fulfilling, permanent work. We can’t wait to be part of this year’s BGC Charity Day.
