Mencap works with many organisations who support our work to provide better employment prospects for people with a learning disability.
Below are details about some of the organisations we work with and how they’re support has helped us to improve independence for people with a learning disability.

MENCAP - Building Better Opportunities
Building Better Opportunities programme is co-funded by the The National Lottery Community Fund and European Social Fund. The aim of the programme is to support young people age 24+ into meaningful activity and employment.
Through a sub-contract with the lead partner for the programme, Humber Learning Consortium, Mencap work specifically with people with a learning disability in Hull and Scunthorpe.
We offer a personalised programme of support that tailors provision to develop all the skills needed for the workplace. CV writing, interview practice, with an emphasis on providing opportunities for access to work experience/ trials to enhance progression
We can help people identify job opportunities, review a person’s training needs and provide on-the-job support where appropriate and work within a wide and varied partnership framework to include other supporting providers and employers to ensure maximum opportunity.
Whatever it takes – we’ll do everything we can to get more people with a learning disability in rewarding jobs.

The Connecting Choices project, starting in July 2017, aims to provide holistic support for unemployed and economically inactive people aged 19 and over who are most at risk of social exclusion to help them progress into training, education, volunteering and work.
We work alongside 3SC to provide employment opportunities to people with a learning disability who are also visually impaired. We work collaboratively with 3SC and local JCP’s to ensure that our clients receive a tailored programme that provides them with all the skills they require to find and sustain paid employment.

Reading Borough Council ( Stronger Together)
The Stronger Together partnership is a Building Better Opportunities project, funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through The National Lottery Community Fund . The Stronger Together partnership helps unemployed people aged 25 and over, and living in Reading or West Berkshire, who need support to get into work, start a business, or just move closer to either of these goals.

Luton Council ( Support into Employment across SEMLEP)
The “Support into Employment” partnership is a Building Better Opportunities project funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through The National Lottery Community Fund across the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership ( SEMLEP).. The purpose of this Partnership is to support unemployed or economically inactive participants to overcome barriers to move into, or closer to, paid employment.
Groundwork London ( ACE Able, Capable, Employed)
The ACE partnership Led by Groundwork London is a Building Better Opportunities project funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through The National Lottery Fund. We aim to support Londoners of 25 years and above with disabilities and long term health conditions transition into sustainable employment.
The Garfield Weston Foundation is a family-founded, charitable grant-making foundation, which supports a wide range of causes across the UK. We are delighted to have received a grant from The Garfield Weston Foundation towards Mencap’s Round the World Challenge. The Challenge is helping people with a learning disability become healthier, gain confidence, develop friendships, learn new skills and crucially, get closer to paid employment.
