What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding is making sure people are safe from abuse, ill treatment, neglect or exploitation.

Our approach to safeguarding

Mencap have an obligation to keep the people with a learning disability that we support and work with, safe. 

This means ensuring that they maintain choice and control over their lives, and feel safe when they do so, including adults as well as all children and young people aged under 18 years old.
