After a community care assessment your son or daughter will receive a care plan from social services. This describes in detail the services they will receive, who will provide them and when they will receive them. It should also have details of the person responsible for making sure the care plan is carried out. This person is called a care manager. If you do not receive a copy of the care plan you should request one in writing from your local authority.
Services should be put in place in a reasonable amount of time after the assessment. If there is going to be a delay, social services may provide a short-term service. If there is a long delay you should find out how long the wait is likely to be and the reasons for the delay.
