Communication and challenging behaviour

A 45-minute DVD examining the link between communication and behaviour, produced by the Challenging Behaviour Foundation.

Count me in!

A toolkit allowing services and day centres to deliver workshops about politics to people with a learning disability. The Electoral Commission funded Mencap to train people with a learning disability to run workshops for other people with a learning disability. They learned how politics affects their lives, how government is structured and how to vote. The project ended with the launch of the Count me in! toolkit. The toolkit is free to download and available to download here.

Meeting the health care needs of people with multiple disabilities

A series of eight training and development packs for support staff produced by Pavilion. Topics include medication, epilepsy and allergies.

NHS Evidence is a service that enables professionals to access clinical and non-clinical evidence and best practice through a web-based portal. It is managed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.

Taking Good Care

Taking Good Care is a pictorial guide to breast awareness produced by Breast Cancer Care Cymru. Research shows that people with a learning disability are less likely than others to visit their GP or attend breast screening. The clear layout makes it suitable for people with a learning disability to use alone, or it can be used with an accompanying guide for carers.

You and Eye

An educational film created by SeeAbility's eye to eye project. The DVD contains three short stories - having an eye test and getting glasses, having a cataract operation, and the importance of regular eye health checks and sight tests. The film was made in partnership with The Misfits, a Bristol theatre group for people with a learning disability.
