If you have not received a short break, and feel like you can no longer cope, it is important to get help as quickly as possible - the most important thing is to tell someone how you feel.
If you feel as if you are getting close to breaking point there are some things that you can do:
- Make sure that you tell someone who knows you how you are feeling as you may need help to find a way through.
- Make an appointment to see your GP, as if you are close to breaking point it is likely that your own health will be affected.
- Contact staff who already know you, such as teachers or day centre staff, and make sure that they know how much you need a break.
- Contact emergency social services - there will be a duty social worker and a number to call in the evenings and at weekends. You can get this number from Directory Enquiries.
Sometimes I just want to run away. It's not just the present that is stressful, it's the future as well.
