Gain the knowledge and skills to reach out to everyone

As the leading voice of learning disability, we provide training that will give your organisation the knowledge and tools it needs to reach out to people with a learning disability, treat them equally and ensure they can take full advantage of what your organisation offers.

Our training can improve your services by making your organisation more accessible. Skills learnt can help a wider range of people, such as those with:

  • with speech and language impairments
  • behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
  • where English is an additional language.

My learning disability is invisible, I am not in a wheelchair but the communication can sometimes be a problem if a person I am talking to doesn’t understand my learning disability and that I need things to be explained clearly to me. When people have the right attitude, I feel relaxed and feel that my opinions are valued.

What our training workshops offer

There are a number of easy steps your organisation can take to be more inclusive. Our training packages focus on the barriers that people with a learning disability face, offering practical ways to make it easier when accessing your services or interacting with your staff. We specifically look at:

  • working environments
  • staff attitudes
  • customer care
  • accessible communications.

We understand that every organisation has limited time and resources. That's why all our training programmes can be delivered in a location suited to you and customised to meet your organisation's needs.The training is delivered by an expert in the field in a way that is efficient, relevant and engaging. All our training programmes are co-delivered with a person with a learning disability.

Using real life stories and experiences, we have developed a range of workshops and tools that will not only inspire your staff to welcome people with a learning disability, but also give them the skills they need to do so.

Open training days

We also run open training days for individuals and smaller groups at Mencap National Centre, London.

£90+Vat (full day)

Easy Read training course cost per person:

£120+VAT (full day)
£90+VAT (half day)
