Hello, I'm Ciara Evans

Name: Ciara Evans
Region: (none)

I have worked for Mencap for 12 years. I work three days a week in the campaigns and policy team and worked on Mencap's Don't Stick It, Stop It campaign against bullying. I also work two days a week as a celebrity research assistant.

I am the UK representative of the European Platform of Self Advocacy (EPSA) and sit on the council of Inclusion International, which is made up of people with a learning disability. In my role with EPSA I recently went to Cyprus to present at a conference for Inclusion Europe and spoke about disability in the media.

I helped to look after our celebrity readers who were,...

My wedding plans
I have recently found out about people with a learning disability and about the issue of forced marriage. I have also found out how people with a learning disability are affected by this. I believe that all people with a learning disability should be able to choose who they marry, if they want to get married. Luckily for me, I have been together...

Thoughts on The Undateables
I saw the advert for the new documentary series on Channel 4 called The Undateables. The series follows people with a disability and their search for love. The advert was negative towards people with a disability. I felt that the way that it was publicised was negative and offensive to people with a disability. I also felt that the title of the...

I am going to tell you about my role as the new APPG Meeting Co-Clerk. My role is to help organise the APPG Meetings which take place in the Houses of Parliament alongside my colleagues Peter Hand and James Robinson. I am really enjoying being the APPG Co-Clerk. I have learnt a lot about how parliament works and have been able to meet MP’s...
