Mencap's vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.
We want everyone to have the opportunity to achieve the things they want out of life. We lobby government and work with politicians of all parties to try to improve the lives of people with a learning disability.
We tell them about issues that affect people with a learning disability and their families, and what should happen to make sure they are treated fairly. We often work with other organisations who share our concerns, including Every Disabled Child Matters, the Learning Disability Coalition and the PMLD network.
The government often asks what people think of their ideas for new policies and laws. We respond to consultations that affect people with a learning disability.
A bill is a proposed new law. We tell MPs and peers what changes we think should be made to bills that affect people with a learning disability. For more information, see our briefings on latest bills.
We support the work of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Learning Disability (APPGLD).
