In the Moment

'In the Moment' is a new DVD from Mencap. It looks at the work of four companies who work in the arts with people with PMLD.

They are Oily Cart (theatre work) Project Art Works (visual art-like painting) Soundabout (music) and The Unlimited Company (storytelling).

'In the Moment' looks at why we should make the arts available to people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. We hope it will encourage more artists and organisations to become involved in this exciting area of work.

• Project Art Works
  Project Art Works is an artist-led organisation that creates opportunities for young people and adults who have complex needs to communicate and express themselves through art.
• Soundabout
  Soundabout exists to help those people who have complex disabilities develop their ability to communicate and interact with the world around them through music and sound.
• Openstorytellers (The Unlimited Company)
  The Unlimited Company provide training for professional and families in how to tell both traditional and personal stories with children and adults who have severe communication disabilities.
• Oily Cart
  Oily Cart creates theatre for young people with complex disabilities. By transforming everyday environments into colourful, tactile ‘wonderlands' we invite our audience to join us in a world of the imagination.
