Knitting competition

As part of our celebrity hat campaign, we are asking our readers to design a hat for your favourite celebrity.  They could be past or present, a film star, your favourite soap character or a sports personality... the choice is yours!

What you can win

• The winner and two runners-up will receive goody bags crammed with knitting prizes.
• The winning hat designs will feature in a future issue of The Knitter.

The closing date is 31 August, so please make sure your entry reaches us by then. Please post your hat and pattern to:

You will be able to collect your entry from The Knitter's stand at The Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, London, from 7 to 10 October 2010.  Any unclaimed entries will be sold in aid of Mencap.

Terms and conditions

1. All designs must be original and must not infringe copyright.
2. Entries must be knitted or crocheted pieces, although using other craft methods to embellish, for example embroidery, is permitted.
3. You may enter once or more than once but all entries must be accompanied by an entry form. Photocopied forms will be accepted.
4. Entries cannot be returned, unless collected in person from The Knitter's stand at The Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, London on 7-10 October.
5. By entering into the competition you: a.Grant Future Publishing Limited the right to use your personal information to send you information about products and services which may be of interest to you (please specify with your entry if you do not want to opt in). b. Accept that all entries will become property of Future Publishing Limited and grant it the right free of charge to publish photographs of your entry and that your entry may be sold or used for other fundraising activities in the future to benefit Mencap.
6. The judging panel's decision is final.
7.Winners will be contacted in person.
8.Prizes may be provided by a third party sponsor of the competition. The Knitter reserves the right in their sole discretion to substitute any prize with a prize of comparable value.
9. The CLOSING DATE for the competition is 31 August 2010. Any entries received after this date will not be entered into the competition. All entries MUST be submitted with an entry form as given here. Photocopied forms will be accepted.
