About Lufton

Mencap National College, Lufton is one of the three specialist colleges which make up Mencap National College (MNC).

Lufton was established in 1969 and is a residential further education college offering tailor-made courses to prepare students for the next stage in their lives. Our students are aged 16-25 and come from all over the country. There are currently 111 students of which 106 are residents and five day students.

The college is based over two sites in a 70-acre estate on the rural outskirts of Yeovil, Somerset.

A small farm is home to many animals including calves, cockatiels, chickens, chinchilla, chipmunks, donkeys, finches, goats, geese, guinea pigs, guinea fowl, horses, rabbits, sheep, mice, pigs, pheasant and ducks.

The estate has well-equipped facilities such as a vehicle valeting bay, green houses, gardens, café, training kitchen, refectory, workshops for art, pottery and woodwork, IT suite, lakeside facilities, sports hall and other leisure services.
