An easy way to find vacancies in Mencap services

Mencap’s new accommodation finder launched today (15 September).
The new service is an easy way to find out where there are vacancies in properties in England where Mencap offers support. You can search by region or by accommodation type – residential care or supported living.
Steve McIlvenny, Mencap's head of commercial development, said: "This service will help people with a learning disability and their families and carers to see what kind of Mencap services are available. And it will make it much easier for commissioners of services to find the right housing and support for people with a learning disability."
Information about the vacancies includes:
- who might be best suited for it
- what type of service is provided
- details about the accommodation and local area
- up to four photos of each property.
The site will be regularly updated and email updates on new vacancies are available.
At the moment, the accommodation finder covers England but there are plans to include Wales and Northern Ireland if it is successful.
