Mathew Horne becomes a Mencap ambassador
Friday 21 November 2008
Actor and comedian Mathew Horne has become an ambassador for Mencap.

Mathew, 30, stars in the hit BBC show ‘Gavin and Stacey'. He announced his support for Mencap alongside Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley, also an ambassador, at Mencap's Little Noise Sessions at the Union Chapel in Islington, London.
Mathew told an audience of 850 people that, like Jo, he has a sibling with a learning disability. He said that he was delighted to be asked to become an ambassador for such an important cause.
To mark the occasion, Jo and Mathew performed a mock knighthood ceremony on stage, with Jo using an audience member's crutch, instead of a sword.
Mathew later said: "I'm absolutely honoured to become an ambassador for Mencap. It's a brilliant charity and one that is very dear to my heart. I am really looking forward to helping them raise much needed funds, awareness and maybe even a few laughs too."
Mencap's other celebrity ambassadors include Will Young, Christopher Eccleston and Donal MacIntyre.
