Mencap's Little Noise Sessions All Set to Make a Mighty Big Impression

Sunday 11 November 2007

Mencap Music presents this very special second series of Little Noise Sessions - a simply stunning string of acoustic gigs, curated by Jo Whiley and held at London's Union Chapel in Islington from 20th November.

Completing a line up that is already crammed with credibility is Cass Lowe, David Jordan, One Night Only, The Wombats, The Courteeners and Duffy.

This series of unique, acoustic gigs brings together some of the finest new and established bands in the land, strips them down and shows them off in their purest form.

For 8 consecutive nights from Tuesday 20th November, Little Noise Sessions will be home to headline performances by Jack Penate, Athlete, Will Young, Biffy Clyro, The Kooks, Snow Patrol, Kate Nash, The Enemy and Keane plus an array of the best breakthrough bands and artists on the block, creating a stellar line up that will leave a lasting impression.

British born singer, songwriter Jack Penate has the honour of kicking things off with his hotly anticipated headline performance on 20th November. Before he takes to the stage to show off his soulful, ska-fuelled sound, Little Noise Sessions will welcome Laura Marling plus Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong.

Jack Penate said: "I'm made up to be playing Little Noise Sessions and to be kicking the whole thing off. It's a rare chance to play an acoustic set and an honour to be part of such a strong line up - even better that it's for such a good cause."

The following night sees a new addition from Cass Lowe, who joins Athlete, The Hoosiers and Palladium on 21st November whilst 21-year-old British singer/songwriter David Jordan joins Will Young, Newton Faulkner and Adele on 22nd November. One Night Only will join The Kooks, The Pigeon Detectives and The Metros on 24th November.

Having met at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and toured with Babyshambles and Kaiser Chiefs, The Wombats have already wowed crowds across the globe and are a welcome addition to the bill on 27th November. The last of this year's Little Noise Sessions will take place on 28th November and Rough Trade's hottest new offering, Duffy, will join Rilo Kiley and headliners Keane to round off what is set to be one of the most memorable music events of the year.

The Little Noise Sessions will raise money for Mencap's Arts Awards scheme, which enables children and young people with a learning disability to take part in local arts projects, helping them grow in confidence and ability.

Jo Whiley, who is an ambassador for the charity, said: "Mencap's Little Noise Sessions are a great opportunity to see big name bands play an acoustic gig in an intimate setting, whilst raising money for a really worthwhile cause."
