Genetic Link?

sal77

Have still been fighting for my daughter to get help!

Have got my local MP looking into why children with LD dont get the help and support they need and deserve and he has been great and looking into it!

Have also taken her to see a paediatrican which she has never seen before even though she is 11 and he thinks there could be a genetic cause for her problems!

Was wondering if anyone else has got a daughter that had learning disabilties due to a genetic disorder?

She has got to go and have a blood test with specially trained nurses as my daughter gets very aggressive when scared which i am not looking forward to but its for the best as for all these years she hasnt been taken seriously!

Medication taken during pregnancy can affect the child.  My Son has Fetal Valproate Syndrome. I took EPILIM while pregnant.  He was tested for genetic problems but was diagnosed aged 2 with the syndrome.

The NHS is doing some research into the condition and I was passed this invite. My Son is registered.

INVITATION TO TAKE PART IN AN NHS RESEARCH STUDY

We are undertaking a study to try and learn more about Fetal Valproate Syndrome.
We want to find out more about how it affects individuals with the condition, and their families.

We are keen to hear from people with this condition who would be interested in taking part.

The study will involve a short interview, undertaken at home, with children who have Fetal Valproate Syndrome and with their parents, together with the collection of some basic medical information.

If you would like to find out more about participating in this study please contact Kate Strong
(0161 7019136/kate.strong@cmft.nhs.uk) in the Genetics Research Department at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester and we will send you an information sheet with more details.

Thank you.
