could my son be autistic?

Mrs5quirty

hiya my son is 9 yrs old and i think he could be on the autistic spectrum

symptoms are..

shouting, rather than talking, not sleeping, prefers to play on his own tather than with friends, counts everything (steps to school, when going up and down steps, just counts for the sake of it) , exagerates everything, (he at swimmin lessons, instructor was holding him in the water, told him to put his ears in the water laying back, he screams she is drowning him) he taps the wall when in bed and meant to be sleeping (he usually does not sleep till gone midnight)

he went through a phase of messing himself daily at school, which has stopped now thankfully.

is he on the austic spectrum??

how do i go about getting a diagnosis

Posted on 23 May 11 at 16:37 by Mrs5quirty

Hi, I am currently looking for a diagnosis for my 9 year old daughter and it is a long process. The first port of call is either the school if they can see an issue or your GP. The school should get an educational psychologist involved who will assess your son and they will then give you help and advice as to where to go from there. With going via your GP they can send a referral through to a paediatrician who are the key to everything!!

Best of luck x
