could my son be autistic?

Anonymous

Hi there,
My son is now 6 years old and i have noticed since he was 2 years old that there was some sort of problem. As he is getting older it has become more apparent. Here is a list of the symtoms i found in my son:

His level of understanding in at a very basic level.
He has speech delay and is seen by a speech theropist.
Doesnt understand the rules of convertation and can come out with rood comments not realising he is being rood for example he doesnt think twice about saying some one is fat or if they smell.
Eductional wise he is extremly below average for his age.
Doesnt cope with change very well.
Has very violent tantrams which can be over nothing and can take up to 1-2 hours to settle down.
He doesnt understand when people are joking or being nasty and can cry when he doesnt understand situations.
He always has to pick up a stick when we are out and about. (I could build a small house with the sticks i have in the garden).
He is easily lead and doesnt understand conequenses for example if he is told to do something he will no matter who has told him or what it is. He automatically thinks its ok because he has been told.
Can seem clumsy at times but this can vary.
He has no sense of danger and is very inmarture for his age.
His memory is very strange. He normally cant remember what he has done that day but will remember things from day weeks and months and even years ago.

I have arranged meetings with his school who have identfied some of these problem. He will be seen by the school physcologist but that wont be for afew months. I'm so concerned about this and its really starting to get me down and would appercate any advice that can be given.

Thank you for yor help.
