Will Valuing People Now make a difference?

LucyVirgo

Valuing People Now has finally been published and sets out the priorities for the next three years to give people with a learning disability and their families choice, independence and control of their lives, but will it work and what impact do you think it will have for you?

hi i really hope it will work for others. but not in our case. people behind desk can scribble away and say yes we are improving this area lets put it down on paper .there it is in black and white valuing people done.

no,we need persons who care who can not only produce it on paper but can implentment these changes and change families lifes for the better.

                                       take care joanne and family

I so agree with Joe

The issue should not about how LA's  are measured on obtaining the external standards...stars and 'tick's.  Obtaining (and counting numbers of activities ) these measures are too often seen by officers and members as their principle task.  The real the issue for  families and vulnerable people (and many staff) is how  Statutory organisations deliver the 'valuing people' policy through effective recruitment and management of their professional and other staff.
